It was no secret that I had plans `one day` to switch to a Mac. The upkeep and maintenance of my windows pc was getting to be too much. The countless security updates, reboots and slow downs was getting me to notice that there are alternatives. Much to the amusements of die hard mac users at the company that I work, I had to admit that I was planning to dump my PC and switch over to a Mac. As I was planning and checking to see what I would need, I got one of these.

Faster than I was planning for, I now had to commit one way or the other way. I'm familiar with a number of different OS's like PcLinux Os and Ubuntu for example which I have running on old PC at home. Certainly there were going to be barriers in using but I was ready to give a try. So I'm the proud owner of a Macbook Pro.

67 days after getting my Mac in hand, I can honestly say that I should have done this years ago! I love the ease of use of moving around with my Mac. All the apps seems to run smoothly more so that with a new PC. I do remember getting my new PC with Vista on it and wondering why it was not faster. I really like the command line option so that I can use ssh and rails. Installing Xcode was quite easy to do to be able to run all the gems that come with rails. Textmate is amazing. Oh yeah, I got the magic mouse with it which turned out to be the best mouse I have ever had
There are a couple of things that I had to get used to quite a bit:
I figured out a good number of things like speeding up access to the windows file server but overall I don't see any setbacks. The next big goal is running windows within OS X so I can use MS CRM because that is windows only. My intentions are to run it on virtualbox and see how it goes.
